What is Calista Fusion Technology?

What is Calista Fusion Technology?

If you’ve ever purchased a Calista tool, you know that our Fusion Technology is mentioned everywhere from our product pages and QVC messaging to the back of our boxes and inside of our instruction booklets. It’s one of the things that makes our tools unique, professional, and better for your hair. So let’s talk tech!

The back of our boxes read “Fusion Technology combines Ionic and Ceramic properties to create frizz-free waves, zero damage, and healthy shine.” We’re breaking down what that means and how these properties actually prevent frizz, help protect your hair against heat damage, and add shine.

Ceramic 101

Ceramic is basically a clay composite material that creates a far infrared heat which penetrates the hair shaft, preserving hair's natural moisture and luster. The main benefit of ceramic is that it heats up quickly and evenly, leading to less damaging hot spots that can destroy fragile hair strands.

Ionic 101

Ionic technology produces millions of negatively charged ions. These ions break down the positively charged ions present in water. In breaking down these positive ions, ionic technology prevents water from soaking into your hair shaft and causing frizz. Additionally, tourmaline is often associated with ionic. To keep it simple, tourmaline essentially supercharges the ionic properties and adds even more negative ions into the mix, giving you even more frizz control.

Calista Fusion Technology

Now that we’ve broken down ceramic and ionic, you know that any hair tool that uses these properties is maintaining the health of your hair by providing moisture protection and lack of excess heat exposure. At Calista, we marry ceramic and ionic properties and call it our Fusion Technology. In fusing these two important materials in all of our tools, we’re making sure that the health and integrity of your hair is our top priority.
